Department of Commerce

The Department of Commerce was established in the year 1981 and commenced in 1982. In addition to that the PG course M.Com. was started in August, 2003 as self-financing course and later it was converted into regular scheme in August, 2006. Our Department motto is to educate, to employ and to empower. So, we promote quality education in commerce to empower the students to develop the knowledge and skills in all the fields of commerce. Intensive coaching is given to our students to achieve academic excellence and equip them with self – confidence. We pursue awards not only in academics but also in cultural events.

Our department caters to the needs of around 432 girl students. So far, 30 batches of students have received their Under Graduate degree and 11 batches received their Post Graduate degree in Commerce.

A SPLENDID RECORD of 24 RANK HOLDERS for the past 5 Years.

Commerce association was inaugurated by Mrs. A. BamaBhuvaneshwari, AGM, NABARDSalem. She delivered the inaugural address and gave a special lecture on “Self confidence”. Dr. Manimozhi, the principal presided over the function. Dr. Sakunthala, Head and Associate Professor of Chemistry, felicitated the function. All the commerce students were enthusiastically participated.

Work shop Guest: Dr. T. Thirupathi, Assistant professor, Government Arts College, Salem. Date: 07.10. 2015, A workshop on “Application of Statistics through SPSS in Social Science Research” was organized on 07.10.2015. Dr. T. Tirupathy, Assistant Professor of Commerce, Government Arts College, Salem – 7 was the resource person, handled both the technical sessions.In addition to our department students, other department staff and students also participated and benefited. Other college Staff members and students were also participated and got benefited. The sessions were highly appreciated by the participants during the feedback session.
