The Rotaract club of Govt. Arts College for women, Salem-8 is functioning well with 106 Rotaract members. Mrs. Sheila Daniel, Associate professor of English is the Coordinator of Rotaract club. This Rotaract club is attached to the Rotary club of Salem Midtown. Ramya of II-M.A. English is the Student President of this club.

The installation ceremony of the Rotaract club was held on 19-08-2014. Principal, Dr. Mrs.S.Manimozhi presided over the meeting, Rotary President, Rtn.Vinoth Babu, Secretary Rtn. Hemalatha and Past president were present. The office bearers took an oath to serve the community. S. Karthika of II- M.Sc. Computer science shared her experience of Ryla Camp.

One day RYLA CAMP was organized in the college. Training was given on Leadership, Self-confidence, and personality Development. Past President, President and Secretary of Thiruppur Angel Rotary Club were the Resource persons. Principal presided over the meeting and Mrs. Sheila Daniel welcomed the gathering. Rtn. Mohan inaugurated the camp and Dr. Selvarangam gave the valedictory address. Rotary International Governor Rtn. Balasubramani was the special guest. President Rtn.Vinoth Babu, Secretary, Hemalatha and many Rotarians were present. Sixty-Five students were benefited through this RYLA Camp. Thanks to the Rotary of Salem Midtown.
v Cross Culture Programme was organized by the Rotaract Club coordinator. Guests from South Korea performed their cultural shows and gave a talk on human rights. Koreans fan dance captivated the attention of everyone present there. Rotaract members and all the English Department students were present.
v Mayor of Salem City in Oregon State in USA visited Salem in Tamilnadu. About 75 Rotary members were present in the Anderson Campus at the welcome function given to Ms. Ann Peterson, Salem Mayor and her secretary Mr. John Choppala. Rotary International Governor, Rotary President, Secretary, Past Presidents, Many Rotarians and Mrs. Suriya Benjamin were present. Mrs. Sheila Daniel, Rotaract Co-Ordinator was the master of the ceremony. The US Mayor discussed with the Rotaract members. This is a feather to the cap of Rotaract Club.

In the Programme Organized at Sona College to honour both the mayor of Salem - Salem-VS and Salem-TN, about 50 Rotaract members participated. Principal and Rotaract Co-Ordinator also were Present.

Road Safety Rally was organized by the Police Department and 10 Rotaract members along with the coordinator participated in the Rally which took place from collectorate to Hasthampatti. Asst. Commissioner of Police(traffic) flagged off the Rally.
v Blood donation awareness programme was organized on 16-02-2015 for all the student of the college. All the 3000 students were present. Principal presided over the meeting. Dr. Anuradha spoke on the benefits of donating blood and she also clarified the doubts of the students.

Blood Donation Camp was held on 17-02-2015 in the college campus with the help of Salem Blood Bank. Principal inaugurated the camp and Rotary President Vinoth Babu and Past President Ramachandran were present. Dr. Anuradha was also present. Students, teachers and office staff willingly donated blood to save many lives.
v Rotary club of Salem Midtown helped the Rotaract members of GAC(W) Salem-8 giving financial support to the circle Kabbadi Players who were selected to participate in Open Nationals in Chandigarh.
v Rotaract Day was celebrated in the Thidal at Five Roads on 22-02-2015. Rotaract members attended this programme and performed a group dance. Fencing demo performed by Srimathi and Priyanka was very novel and it was appreciated by all.
v Rotaract members decided to keep the campus clean and place dustbins near each block. All the students will be motivated to use the dustbins and keep the college clean.
v On 13-3-2015, a puppet show on drug awareness and health and hygiene was organized by the rotaract club for the college students. A power point presentation on drug abuse was beneficial for the students.
